Aaahhhh, who would have thought you could eat a flower and be so bloody tasty? I have had rose chocolate and violet chocolate from Haigh's, but nothing beat's Lavender in food. I first tried it a few years ago, went to a Lavender farm in the Country, and had lavender ice cream, I was pretty satisfied. I thought it was so rare, I never thought about it again, up until about 2 years ago, visiting another country town and an old style lolly and chocolate shop, they had lavender chocolate. Over the road was a lavender shop, and they had chocolate's with lavender runny cream (best by far in choc) Then down the road, another lavender farm, where I had more lavender ice cream.....Lavender food is still not easy to come by, obviously you cannot get it in the local supermarket, you pretty much do have to visit the country, but it seems to be distributed a fair bit nowadays, and more and more ppl are turning a paddock full of it, into a sight and shop and cafe. Good on em'!! Anyway, I was given a cupcake making book by my mother a while ago, and there was a recipe for lavender cupcakes. The Royal Melbourne Show was a few week's ago, and many Lavender's Farm owner's had set up stall's, and sold a few products.I managed to get a choc bar, (was a bit disappointing, it had bloomed, but still tasty) and a lavender lollypop which I am still yet to lick at. I bought dried lavender flowers for culinary use, so a few weeks later, I made the cupcakes!!! Best I have ever had and ,ade myself (not being arrogant)
